Reporting and Deliverables

Insight provides a full range of services in the production of reports and other deliverables.

There are a range of deliverables that Insight can produce at major milestones or the completion of our projects and that these deliverables need to be produced to suit the specific needs of each client.

Project deliverables include:

  • Written reports and presentations – including report content on both a business and a technical (statistical) level

  • Prepared datasets – Insight might be given data in a raw file format and might be asked to assess the data quality and to convert the data into a cleaner file format for subsequent use by the client or third parties

  • IT solutions – including computer hardware and/or software

In writing reports there are a number of factors to consider in order to produce the best deliverables for each individual client. These include:

  • The length of the report – finding the balance between being succinct while also providing an appropriate level of detail

  • The needs and interests of the client – this might also include writing for a group of stakeholders, and hence providing strategies whereby different stakeholders can find the material of most interest to them

  • The level of technical ability of the client and third parties – while we always work to provide the best analytical approach within any project, it is also understood that readers will vary in their ability to understand statistical and technical concepts. Often our reports are written so that the main body of the report can be read by the majority of readers (with statistical results presented using simple, everyday language), appendices provide introductory material for readers who are new to the statistical concepts and advanced material for readers wanting to understand the more advanced statistical details about the report, and references are included for readers wanting to do additional reading about the statistical concepts raised in the report. At Insight we see every consulting project as an opportunity to raise the statistical and technical capabilities of our clients (according to the time and interest that a client has in such learning).

  • Increased business decision-making – within any consulting project there are the statistical results that we see within the data, but ultimately the value of a project comes from whether readers are making better business decisions as a result of what they have learnt from reading a report. At Insight we are constantly striving to provide optimal business value for our clients. A report should not just contain statistical results but should also discuss the implication of these results for future business decisions.
